Jonathan Coppedge-Henley

Head Pastor

Jonathan has led WCF since 2021, having previously served as pastor at United Methodist Churches across Western North Carolina. He earned his Master of Theological and Divinity Studies from Duke Divinity School, and is currently studying for his Doctor of Ministry. A native of Newland, NC, Jonathan taught middle school English before entering divinity school and hosted a weekly radio show on 106.5 The End where he shared his love of rock music with listeners. Jonathan is the founder and board chair of Neighborhood Table, a non-profit focused on community, peace building, and supporting each other.
Jonathan is married to fellow pastor Elizabeth Coppedge-Henley, and they have two amazing children, Owen and Lora.

Jon Lakeman

Ministry Assistant


Jon serves as Ministry Assistant, working with children and youth as well as other groups within the congregation. He is the Director of Youth Ministry (grades 6-12) for WCF and three of our sister United Methodist Churches: Saint Andrew’s, Sedgefield, and SouthPark! Jon brings a deep passion for ministry with young people, along with a strong background in faith formation and Christian education. Jon holds a degree in Religious Studies from Lenoir-Rhyne University and is pursuing ordination in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. He has served at Lutheridge Camp and Conference Center and with the Middle School Youth Group at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Jon enjoys running, playing guitar, reading, Dungeons & Dragons, and Magic: The Gathering.

Jim Lowder

Director of Music Ministry

Jim Lowder leads WCF’s music programs, making a joyful noise each Sunday. The son of a United Methodist pastor, Jim has spent his life immersed in music. 

Demerye Shingler

Director of Children Ministry

Demerye is a beloved early childhood educator and joined WCF in 2023 to help continue to grow our popular children’s ministry. She has nearly 20 years of experience working with children and is currently the Director of St Mark's UMC Child Development Center. Demerye holds degrees from Johnson C Smith University and Strayer University.

Jill preston-thomas

Campus Administrator

Jill joined WCF as Campus Admissions Administrator in 2025. A Wofford College graduate and certified parent coach, she keeps the campus running smoothly, managing the comings and goings of the church and making sure everyone stays informed. Her love of cooking and entertaining makes her a natural partner to the witness team, ensuring events and Thursday night dinners are beautiful, delicious, and run without a hitch. Jill has two adult daughters, Willa and Libby, and lives with her dog, Jude.
