Woodlawn Residency in Arts and Worship Fall 2026
The arts and faith have always been connected. The connection is best when faith communities empower the arts to create shared experiences. Honoring that connection, Woodlawn Community Fellowship is excited to offer a $2500 Residency in Arts and Worship, beginning in August and culminating at Christmas 2026. The residency application will be open March 30 - May 3.
The resident will be a leadership partner with the Woodlawn pastor, Jonathan Coppedge-Henley, in bringing art of various kinds to worship experiences at Woodlawn. The resident will be asked to: provide weekly arts experiences as part of Woodlawn's worship experience, convening a collective of creatives as needed; participate in an orientation/collaboration retreat with other creatives and Woodlawn members; and help craft Woodlawn's vision of empowering creatives in Charlotte. As an educator, collaborator, and creator, the resident will be expected to be profoundly good to people.
Woodlawn Community Fellowship is committed to being an integral part of the thriving of our community, to being an inclusive congregation who honors the beautiful diversity of our city, and to "doing church different." Woodlawn believes that the arts pull people together in powerful ways, making everyone better. Woodlawn is committed to diversity, peacemaking, belonging, and friendship. Woodlawn is particularly mindful of centering the voices of vulnerable populations, intending to be a place of healing of the wounds too often created by religion.
